Anawangin Cove, Zambales

How to go to Anawangin on a BUDGET.

a.  Travelling from Manila to Anawangin
Manila - San Antonio costs 400PHP
vs
Manila-Olongapo costs 200PHP plus Olongapo - San Antonio 49PHP

We took the Victory Liner Bus from Espana to the Victory Liner Bus Stop in Olongapo. On the same stop, we took the ordinary bus to San Antonio.  From San Antonio, we took a Tricycle to the boat station, 30PHP fixed price per person.  Ask the tricycle driver if they know someone who can take you to Anawangin Cove.  There's a big chance that they do.  Our return boat ride costs 1200PHP split to 5 people.  I don't know if having someone who speaks Ilocano helps.

b.  Accomodations.  Anawangin Cove is a camping site.  Everyone is expected to arrive with their own tents.  We didn't.  But the tricycle driver knows someone who we can rent a tent to.  It costs us 600PHP per night split once again to 5 people.

c.  Food, Water and ALCOHOL.  It is a MUST to bring your own food.  We shopped prior to the trip.  We have mostly canned goods and junk food.  To give you an idea how expensive food are in Anawangin Cove, a 1.5L of Coke costs 75PHP.  Yes, that expensive.  You can buy Ice for a whopping price of 30(small) and 60(large) PHP.  We have our empty gallon of water refilled for 35PHP in San Antonio.  It lasted us a day and we didn't deprived ourselves.  I can't remember if you can buy alcohol but we took 6 bottles of The Bar with us - Party Pack of course!  :P

d.  Cooking.   You are allowed to cook on the camping site.  We have an improvised stove made of stone.  Woods from the forest is free but you have to do the work.

e.  Where to camp?  I discovered that day that Anawangin Cove is privately owned by 2 different people/group.  On the left side, you pay 150PHP per person per night while on the right side(near the mountain where you can trek), 100PHP is the rate per person per night.  Day trips costs 50PHP per person.  There ain't much difference on the either camps.  Better take the cheaper one.

All in all, we spent about 1300PHP per person.  Isn't that amazing?  The question is, where to go next?
